THE FACE SHOP: MANGO SEED MILD SHINE ESSENCE REVIEW

Hello Hearts!

As winters approach my dry skin starts getting drier and soon flakiness along with breakouts occur :( I have to take special care of my sensitive skin as no amount of make-up works if 'flakiness' increases. What I have seen works best in the situation, is to use multiple products that are light weighted on your skin instead of using just one heavy product. That way my skin drinks up something of everything and then it seems to be nice and happy :)
The Face Shop has some amazing skincare products to offer and it is my saviour in all seasons. I use the Mango Seed Mild Shine Essence right after washing my face, to prep my skin before using a cream.

Price- $15 approx for 50 ml

5 Tips on How To Wear Dark Lips & FOTD

Francois Nars once said,''For me lips are as sexy as it gets."

Lately I have been trying to come out of my comfort zone, I have started using darker shades of lipsticks. Deep plums/oxblood shades are perfect for winters which suite all skin tones. However it is can be tough pulling off such shades perfectly. So, here are some quick tips on how I like to wear darker shades.

1. Coordinate your make up- When we are going for a dark lipstick, it means the 'centre of attraction' is going to be our LIPS. So keep everything else to the minimal. The eye makeup should be simple and as neutral as possible. In order to make the look more wearable I usually avoid 'cat-eyes' and instead go for a classic black stroke of eyeliner.

2. Lip Liner- Do not under estimate the effectiveness of a lip liner when it comes to darker shades. The liner will keep the shade from bleeding and help it to stay put for a longer time, I have messed up dark lips several times when I got lazy and skipped a lip liner!

Sephora India Haul

Hello pumpkins!

I recently got a few things from Sephora India. The store is undoubtedly every beauty addict's candyland!
However, it's time they open an online shopping website for those who do not reside in Delhi. Also the latest products launched in other countries are not made available in Sephora India that easy.

At First my original haul list consisted of "the fab pore range" from Soap and Glory, Sephora Airbrush foundation and Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Copenhagen. However none of these were available :( and so I had to choose from what was 'available'.
None the less, I am quite happy with my purchase and so far have been loving the products!

Bath and Body Works - Warm Vanilla Sugar Body Butter Review

Hi Everyone,

I am guilty..Yes, ladies you heard it right, ''I am freaking guilty of being a Bath and Body Works addict!' I have an enormous collection of this brand and I am very possessive about all my Bath and Body Works babies.
The Warm Vanilla Sugar range is a must have from this brand. It is a rich cozy scent which smells like vanilla cake that has just come out of the baking oven. It has a touch of 'sugary' scent but isn't really sweet. I would say the fragrance is soft and cozy enough for autumn evenings!

Price- $15 for 7 oz

Five Fall Favorites: Fashion

Hello Hearts,

Fall is that time of the year which allows us a smooth transition from summer flip flops to those cute booties which we missed so much! The season screams Burgundy to me. I think Burgundy is a shade which suits all skin tones really well. It is a bold, rich color with a classy edge to it. If I were to describe the shade in one word then it would be 'Ravishing'.

My favorite fall look is a flowy high low assymetric burgundy dress with an animal print belt. To make the look more casual I prefer ankle length boots instead of stilettos. Also I couldn't think of a better pair of earrings other than the 'shimmering leaves' earrings to describe Fall. Lastly I completed the look with a black lace clutch to add a feminine (goth) touch!

Here I would like to mention a website named Raise which is an amazing new online marketplace where you can buy gift cards from your favorite stores such as Victoria's Secret, Macy's etc at a discounted price and sell your unwanted gift cards for cash! So no excuses, let the fall shopping begin!

''I am so obsessed with burgundy and deep plums during this season. A post on deep plum shades is coming soon. What is your favorite fall fashion? Do share!''

L'Oreal Hair Spa Deep Nourishing Shampoo Review

Hey Everyone,

Today I am going to share with you a product which is not much talked about in the beauty world. It is the L'Oreal Hair Spa Deep Nourishing Shampoo with water lily formulated especially for dry hair. Honestly speaking I had only heard of  L'Oreal Hair Spa Olive Oil, reviewed here . The moment I saw this shampoo for sale in my salon I knew I had to try it. I asked the Salon guys for a quick review on it as I couldnt find much about the product online. They said,  'Mam customers love it so much that they keep coming to buy a new bottle as soon as their old one gets finished'.  Okay so now I really had to buy it, and it is mint colored too! See how I justify my temptations ;)

8 Makeup Mistakes Realised & Tips

Makeup is an art and honestly, my obsession.I feel one should challenge old rules and try new things. However there are a few things I have learnt with experience which I would like to share today. I am not going to bore you with the usual, choosing the right shade of foundation, bold lip nuetral eyes etc. I am going to talk about the deep stuff which I have learnt and realised with time and are are worth noting.

1. Flaky skin- Applying foundation to dry flaky skin will make it just sit on your skin looking cakey and unnatural. I face the problem of flaky skin alot, that is why I pay special attention to moisturisation before applying makeup. Tip- Moisturise quite sometime before applying makeup so that your moisturiser gets time to sink in.

2. White Circle-Wrong shade and wrong formula of concealer can accentuate your dark circles. Remember you need a color correcting agent for your under eyes. Using a concealer shade that is more than 2 times lighter than your skintone will never conceal your dark circles. Instead it will caste a whitish patch. The worst is when the white circles get accentuated in photographs, and screams to the crowd 'yes, I have tried to hide my circles with the wrong shade!''  Tip- kohlcrush loves creamy concealers that are nude/yellow based for full coverage.

Rose Water Massage: Pamper Your Hair

'I'd rather have roses on my table than diamonds on my neck,' Emma Goldman
I have thick long hair which demands alot of attention. So, I am always on the lookout of ways by which I can make my hair heathier. Rose Water has a common and rather irreplaceable place in almost every Indian household. Apart from being a fantastic toner for our skin, it also contains properties which are great for our hair. Rose water treats scalp irritations and dandruff. With regular application it also delivers shine and solves the problem of hair loss. Unfortunately, we do not have access to Rose Water Hair Tonic in India, all we have is the regular skin toners. I refrain from using these skin toners on my hair as they contain preservatives. I prefer making my own Rose Water, as it is very easy and fresh. Lets see how I go about it.

Gently wash the roses, and put it in boiling water. For 2 cups of water use around 3-4 big roses.

Sakshi Goenka Look: Ek Hasina Thi

The only Hindi daily soap that I follow is Ek Hasina Thi. The storyline is different and very interesting, all the actors in the serial are perfect for their parts. The entire set up of the plot seems to be well planned in advance and fantastically executed. The performance of all the actors in the serial is excellent. Also it seems as if a lot of thinking has gone into the outward appearance of the actors. The makeup, clothes and background music create an aura of 'perfect' drama.
If you too follow the daily soap you will agree that there is one person who overshadows everyone else with her grace, posture, beauty and phenomenal acting- Sakshi Goenka. This role is played by the famous television actor, Simone Singh, also famous for her debut in the serial Heena. Why am I so excited? Simply because she comes from my hometown, Jamshedpur!

Victoria's Secret - Secret Charm Body Mist: Bedtime Perfume

Victoria's Secret body mists have been a part of my fragrance collection since always. This particular Secret Charm body mist was gifted by a friend on my birthday. I guess he tried to play it safe, as he is aware of my obsession with VS and BBW products :)

VS Secret Charm is a very clean, light and floral fragrance. It is meant for those who dont like overpowering scents. If you get a headache from strong fragrances, then Secret Charm is made for you.People who dont like smelling like perfumes, and instead prefer a cool, airy, pleasant scent must opt for it. There is nothing sweet about the fragrance, it is all floral

The lasting power of  VS Secret Charm Body Mist is not very long, which is not surprising at all considering it as a light fragrance. It barely lasts for an hour or two (It may last longer when layered). Because of it's mild fragrance I prefer to use it after my night shower, before going to bed. It makes me feel fresh and gives me a good night sleep!

Buy the perfume here.

In short, the Victoria's Secret, Secret Charm Body Mist can be described as a 'simple feminine' fragrance. It is definately not 'girly' and sweet like most other VS scents. This is a fragrance that I have been sleeping to, it makes me feel as if I was a delicate princess sleeping in a dreamy summer garden! Do you crave for bedtime perfumes once in a while? Do share in the comments below, I would love to know what fragrances you like sleeping to!

EOTD Smokey Eyes Twitsed: Makeup Revolution Iconic 2 Palette

All my dollies, a big thank you for giving my blog so much love! As promised in my previous post, I am posting an eotd with the Makeup Revolution Iconic Palette 2. This is the first time I am doing such a post, so please forgive me if there are any mistakes. I have tried to give in my best. So many of you do eotds so well, I hope to learn with practice.

There are so many versions of a smokey eye, personally I think it is a 'hit or miss' kind of a look. Blending is the major challenge with such intense eye looks. One can go so 'right' or so 'wrong' with intense black smokey eyes. A traditional smokey eye covers the entire lid with dark color and fades as it goes towards the brow. However the dark colors in the lid can somewhat make small eyes look smaller!
The look demonstrated below is a little twisted. I have tried to add drama by concentrating on the crease rather than on the lid of my eyes. This method accentuates the real shape of our eyes. Also one can use contrasting colors to create this look.

Makeup Revolution London Iconic 2 Redemption Palette

The Urban Decay Naked palettes need no introduction! Staying in India, we can only lust over these. It is very difficult to get your hands on these bad boys, & when we actually get a chance we may not give in, as they are so expensive (happened to me)!
Makeup Revolution is a UK based cosmetic brand, which took out the exact replica of Urban Decay Naked 1,2 & 3. Now I have never used UD palettes, but beauty bloggers around the world have established the fact that Makeup Revolution Iconic Palettes are the best dupes of the UD Naked Palettes. And I totally believe them!

How To Bleach At Home Safely: Oxylife Crème Bleach With Glow Serum

All of us are aware that we should keep ourselves away from bleaching often. However once in a while it is important for us to indulge.I have sensitive dry skin, even a wonder ingredient like 'Haldi/Turmeric' gives me rashes, yes my skin is that sensitive :(
I once had a terrible incident in a reputed salon while bleaching, my skin turned red and started burning! Since then I have started bleaching at home as I just cant risk that incident again. In fact my mother recalls that she has been safely bleaching her face at home since 20-25 years.
Oxylife and VLCC are 2 brands which have good bleaching products in the Indian Market. Out of the two i prefer Oxylife as it delivers more drastic effects. This product comes with a whole kit- a pre bleach cream,a white creme, an activator, and a glow serum. The glow serum is a new introduction.

Mango Breakfast Facial

Mango being the king of all fruits, does not only taste amazing but also has beauty benefits. Few months more and mangoes will no longer be available so let us make full use of this delicious fruit now!
I am not much into diy, I only indulge in homemade stuff when I actually find the diy procedure to be simple and very effective.

Mangoes are high in Vitamin A & C, which make it a power house rich in anti oxidants. This means mangoes impart younger looking skin, and thus prevents ageing.
Why is the word 'breakfast' added to the name of this facial? Simply because it includes almonds, oats and milk!
I like using raw milk as it has so many benefits which arent destroyed by boiling. It contains lactic acid and has various kinds of healing and skin lightening properties. Oats and almonds are excellent for exfoliation.

Aztec Print Attraction: How to Style & Mobile Cover

Hello all you beautiful people. Today I am going to talk about my love affair with 'Aztec Prints' in the fashion world. There is something about the geometric designs and the color combination which makes me love the print so much. Aztec Fashion is inspired from the Azetc people, who belonged to ethnic groups of central Mexico.

How to style?

The Aztec Print is somewhat loud, so i prefer to style it with nuetral colors and keep low on the accessories. I stick to solid colors which compliment the print. Also I dont go 'all bling' with this print as i want the beautiful Aztec Print to draw everyones attention.
I have an Aztec print dress from Myntra that I love. See how I style it HERE

Summer Outfit: Cuteness Personified

Shorts and tank tops scream summer to me. I prefer loose-fitted comfortable clothes in summer so that my skin can breathe. When it comes to colors I like indulging in bright oranges and pinks. I have never come across a pair of shorts and tank top combo that looked cuter than the illustration below-

Embrace this summer with a pair of denim cut offs, team it up with a bright bow back tank and nude shades. The bow back tank top is my favourite. It is super easy to create, however, let me know if want a diy. To add to the look go for a cute pair of black (kitten) flats.

kohlcrush tip: try to tie your hair up with this cute bow back top so that the 'bow' can be seen and appreciated by others. The bow is an eye candy and so one does not need any added accessories!

A Classic Summer Favorite: The Body Shop Satsuma Shower Gel

Honestly, I was never a fan of TBS. I never seem to be very connected with most of their fragrances.I mean i never found a 'wow' or 'cant live without' kind of a product in their range ( you know what i mean)!

The Body Shop Satsuma Shower Gel, however, is an exception! It has a fresh, citrusy smell. The gel is orange in color and lasts for a very long time. It is not at all drying on the skin, infact this is something I appreciate about all TBS Shower gels. It does a great job cleansing my skin and awakens my senses in the shower with its refreshing fruity fragrance. The fragrance is strong but vanishes right after bath.

Priced at Rs 340 for 250 ml, this shower gel will last you for a long time.
Last Words- The Body Shop Satsuma Shower Gel is truly a Summer Classic Favourite which i have and will always go back to. I would say, Girls, who love oranges go fetch your Satsuma Shower gels soon..what are you waiting for?

Monsoon Update: NOTD Lakme Color Crush #90

''Oh yeah I'll tell you something.. I think you'll understand
When I say that something.... I wanna hold your hand....''

Didn't Beatles nail it in their very first single? Okay, so I am listening to this awesome song
while I write for all you lovely ladies out there!
The post today is a little different, I was bored of posting reviews after reviews. Yes, you are guessing it right....this post is somewhat related to "hands" :) I know it sounds weird..hee..hee!

Okay so I am done with all my strange jokes now. Although I love growing my nails and painting them, once in a while I cut them short and leave them naked to breathe. Also I have made the habit of applying hand creams whenever my hands feel dry (which happens a lot by the way). Read about hand creams that i use- here

Monsoons have arrived and there is greenery every where. So I planned on applying a vibrant green nail paint from the Lakme Color Crush Collection. The number of the shade is 90, I wish they would have taken some effort to name these nail polishes!
Anyway, the color is a bright green color, perfect for this season.
Price- Rs 125

In case you are wondering, my bracelet is from- Infinity. They have some lovely pieces of jewellery that are designed keeping the International designs in mind.

I bought my bracelet from Westside, Pune.  I dont exactly remember the price but they were somewhere around Rs 3000. The bracelet has not lost its shine although I wear it regularly, and it suites all kinds of clothing.

Have you ever shopped from Infinity? What colors do you prefer on your nails during monsoons? Do share!

Loreal Smooth Intense Serum Review: Nice or Not?

Hair serums have been a part of my life since i dont even remember! Today, a hair serum has become more of a necessity to me, I just cant imagine life without it. I have super long hair which gets entangled alot, hence i am always on the lookout for a non-oily hair serum which can be used on dry hair before combing.
In the beginning I used to use Loreal Professional Hair serums as suggested by my hair stylist. But these were so expensive that I could not use it on a day to day basis.

price- Rs 240 for 100ml

The Loreal Paris Smooth Intesnse Serum is thick but gets absorbed quickly. It is non-greasy and has a pleasant smell.

The hair serum can be used on dry as well as wet hair. It detangles the hair quite well, leaving it smooth. The only problem I have with the hair serum is that i dont find the effects to be long lasting, I reach for it every time I have to comb my hair. But I dont mind using it often as the product is decently priced, and seems to do no harm to my hair (it contains argan oil). Also my hair ends are dry, so I dont face the problem of it making my hair oily.

pros-
  • detangles hair
  • makes hair smooth
  • pleasant smell
  • contains argan oil
  • less hair breakage
  • decently priced
  • easily available

cons-
  • effects are not long lasting
Last Words-

Overall, I think The loreal smooth intense serum is a great buy. It is decently priced and at the same time it is effective. This is my 3rd bottle, and I am definitely buying it again!

Have you tried this product before? Do Share!

My Summer Skin Heroes: Part 1

Hello beauties, how have you all been? It is as hot as 42 degrees in my hometown. The percentage of humidity is also very high. Hence, my skin was showing signs of irritation and discomfort. I was facing severe breakouts, which were leaving behind stubborn marks. Also my skin was feeling dehydrated in some areas whilst oily in the others. To add to these problems I have uneven skintone which made my skin look worse.

The moment I realised that this skin condition was not normal, I sprang up and swore ''no makeup'' till my skin condition improves. I stopped using every product that I was using then and shifted to new products.

My first rescuer was Neutrogena Deep Clean Facial Cleanser (price- Rs 85 for 50 ml). I have always seen myself going back to this cleanser during summers (when my skin breaks out) and this has never let me down. This is more of a ''love it'' or ''hate it'' kind of a product, and I am definately a part of the ''love it'' cult!
The Cleanser deeply cleanses the face and removes impurities. It is quite easy to wash off and it makes the skin squeaky clean. I see my pimples vanishing once i start using this product. The cleanser is of yellowish transparent gel like texture.

However the cleanser does dry out my skin. I always feel the need to apply some cream to moisturise my skin immediately after using this facial cleanser. This is the point where, my second rescuer comes into the picture- Olay Total Effects 7 in One Cream+ Serum Duo.

Never in the wildest of my dreams would I have thought that Olay would be so effective, and that one day I would be raving about it in my blog. This Cream+Serum Duo did wonders for my skin. I used it twice a day after washing my face, and in no time it solved the problem of my uneven skintone. It also helped to get rid of stubborn pimple marks on my skin. It did not cause any breakouts. The Duo does not leave behind any greasiness, and gets absorbed quickly. In no time it made my skin was glow and I was receiving compliments!

Priced at Rs 369 for 20 gms, The Olay 7 in One Cream+Serum Duo lasts very long. Also it is hygenically packed with a pump like dipenser. A cherry on the top, is that it offers spf 15, what more could one ask for?

I really adore these two products and i can say that these have been life changing for me. What makes me more happy is that they both are reasonably priced, effective and easily available throughout the country.

So this was part 1 of the 'summer skin heroes' , in the part 2 i will be talking about some other products that have been effective...probably a scrub or a toner.
Also I would love to know how you deal with  your Summer skin issues? Which products have been life changing for you? Do share!

Shea Cashmere & Silk Hand Cream Review – Bath & Body Works

Hello everyone!

I am back after a long time, as I had so much shifting to do and I did not have internet connection. Today I am going to review a product which was promised by me a long time back - Bath and Body Works Shea Cashmere & Silk Hand Cream. Yes, by now we all know how much i love lotions, especially Hand Creams.

Okay so it is as hot as 42 degrees celsius where i stay..pheww! But i still make it a point to lightly moisturise my dry skin areas from time to time. I have been using The Shea Cashmere & Silk hand cream from bbw for quite some time now. Lets see how it worked for me.

price- $ 12.50 for 2.5 oz

ingredietients and directions -

To begin with the fragrance of the cream is lovely, like all other bbw creams. It is quite sweet and strong. It lasts for quite some time after application. The packaging of the product is user friendly and it is compact enough to get inside my purse.

Coming to the main part, the texture - i would say this cream does soften my hands but does not moisturise it. It is like a temporary coating on my hands, I wish it gave a more 'sinking in' feeling to my skin. However, it is not greasy or oily.

I would say this cream is quite okay for summers, but i would definately need a better cream for winters.

pros-

smells yummy
fragrance lasting power is great
not greasy

cons-

availabilty
not suitable for those who dont like strong sweet fragrances
not very moisturising
pricey

Final Verdict-

There is no doubt that BBW products are my all time favourites. This hand cream however, is the kind i would not re-purchase, But at the same time i dont regret buying it. It is more of a daily luxury hand cream rather than a treatment.
