My Current Haircare Routine- March 2014

Hello lovelies!

I am sorry for the late post, but actually I have been travelling alot lately and I dont have access to regular internet connection.

Today, i am going to share with you my latest haircare routine. I have thick long hair and I strongly believe that the lesser one plays with color and heat the better it is. I also dont believe in using tons of products on my hair, all one needs is a ''good product'' that suits your hair type (& btw finding that ''good product'' is the most difficult task!)
I have been continuously using Sunsilk since many months. In fear of product build up i lately shifted from my regular shampoo, conditioner and hair oil.

Here is what I am using currently-

1) L'occitane Volumizing Shampoo
2) L'occitane Volumizing Conditioner
3) L'oreal Hair Spa Olive Oil
4) L'oreal Paris Total Repair 5 Serum

I will be reviewing the products as soon as i get sure of what i think of them.
Till then, let me know what hair products you are currently using!

Tribal Print Dress-How to style?

Hello everyone!

Ever since i saw Gauhar Khan wearing a black and white tribal printed dress,i knew i wanted one. I managed to get a black & white tribal printed dress from one of the online shopping websites at a very reasonable price (Rs 500/), thanks to gosf!

I absolutely love the black and white horizontal prints in the dress. In my opinion combining the black and white tribal print with bright colors works fantastically. However if you want to play it safe you can always go for a regular black or nude pair of heels. Just the other day, i combined a pair of red kitten heels with the dress and it looked ravishing! I have become a fan of this outfit.
On other days, when i go for black heels i usually add a pop of color with a locket or ring (in mint green or turquoise) to make the look interesting.

Have a look at the picture below to get an idea of how both the looks comes out to be.

Style Tip-  Remember to add a pop of color to the black and white tribal printed dress especially because summers have arrived! The pop of color can be anything- a piece of jewellery, a purse, or simply a bright red lipstick!

I absolutely love the look. How do you like it? Do Share!

Nivea In-Shower Body Moisturiser (Skin Conditioner)~solution for busy mornings?

Hello dahlings!

So i was super excited when i got to know that Nivea had finally launched their skin conditioner in India. Thank you Nivea for listening to my prayers! I grabbed this product as soon as i saw it sitting on the counter.

ingredients-

                                                                             directions-

price- Rs 250 for 250ml

The fragrance of the product is mild and reminds me of all other Nivea products.

The application of this product is very easy. One just needs to apply it all over once we are done with our shower gel and then rinse off after 2 minutes. The product slides away when rinsing off and makes my skin feel really smooth. It is safe to be used after scrubbing and shaving as well. I wont say that it is a substitute to body lotions but it does offer me an occasional skip when i am in a hurry. What i like the most about this product is that i find myself moisturizing those parts of my body which i usually tend to neglect (belly, back and neck). It does not leave any sticky residues on my skin (my skintype-dry).

I would advice oily skinned beauties to got for the normal body type version (which comes in a white packaging). I dont think those with super oily skin will need a moisturiser after using this product, especially during summers.

pros-

  • conditions skin well
  • leaves skin smooth
  • smells pleasant
  • budget friendly
  • saves time
cons-

  • packaging is somewhat bulky
  • those with very dry skin may need to top it up with body lotion
Last Words- I get very excited whenever there is a new launch in the beauty world, especially if they are reasonably priced from well known brands. I totally welcome this new concept of skin conditioners in India.
So far this product is doing a great job for me and i hope to reap it's benefits even in future!

Moisturise during summers~Vaseline Total Moisture Aloe Fresh Body Lotion

Hello everyone!

Summers have arrived and it is time to change our skincare routine! when it comes to body lotions and fragrances I usually keep warm and comforting fragrances for winters and the fresh ones for summers. So, i have shifted from heavy body butters to light moisturising lotions.

I am sure all of us have at some point of time in our lives have used Vaseline Body Lotions. They are one of the most easily available brands in India. I think they are fantastic considering the quality and texture of these lotions. These lotions are also decently priced.

I began moisturizing this summer with Vaseline total moisture aloe fresh body lotion.

price- Rs 125 for 200ml

The texture of this lotion is quite light. It gets absorbed quickly into the skin. I have dry skin and it does not make me feel greasy. The fragrance is very fresh but it does not stay for long.

Last Words-This is great product considering the price, quantity and quality offered. It is a must try during summers.

So have you changed your body lotion with the changing weather?

Coral Summer Outfit

hello everyone!

I have been in love with the color 'coral' ever since i saw it,i think it is perfect for summers. It is neither too bright nor too boring...i have been pairing my coral tops with a pair of white denims lately. And i complete the look with some gold/ rose gold accessories.

I often go for this look for a movie or when i am out for lunch with friends. This look is a daytime look.
The picture below will give you an idea of how the finished look comes out to be.

One can also wear a pair of nude heels to complete this look. I, however prefer to wear ballerinas ( unless i am going for a party) as they are more comfortable.
This is one of my favourite summer daytime looks. What is yours? Are you hooked onto coral too?

Nivea In Shower Body Moisturiser Skin Conditioner~ Now In India!

Hello beauties!

I am so excited to discuss a product i have been waiting to be launched in India since such a long time. Nivea,i think has started blessing Indian beauties by launching all of their good products in India...first it was lip butters and now the skin conditioner!

I had first heard of Lush Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner, but that was very expensive ( Rs 1900 for 225gms) so i had to give it a pass. However now my dream can come true with Nivea which is so reasonably priced- Rs 250 for 250 ml

I have been on the look out for this product in various stores but havent spotted it yet. I have spotted this product in nykaa.com.However I usually prefer to buy liquids directly from the stores as there is always a possibility of leakage during online shopping. So i am going to wait for it to reach my nearest store ( it is getting harder day by day)!

I think this product will be great for summers, especially when we are feeling so hot and sweaty that we dont want to slather on lotion. Also, it will be be fantastic for those days when we are in a hurry and have no time to apply body lotion. Now i have all these high expectations from this skin conditioner. I really hope it stands upto my expectations. I will try to get my hands on this one, asap and share my thoughts with you.

Have you spotted this product yet? If yes, then lucky you! Also, if you have got a chance to try this product then what are your thoughts on it? Do share! xoxo!

Cetaphil Daily Advance Ultra Hydrating Lotion~bye bye dry skin!

Today, i am going to review a product which is widely recommended by dermatologists. This winter my skin was getting dry and flaky no matter which moisturiser i used. On top of that i was breaking out severely. There were days when i didnt feel like stepping out of the house just because my skin felt so dehydrated and under nourished. I even tried oils to solve my problem but nothing helped. Finally i gave up and went for help.

This moisturiser came as a saviour to my skin. Right from the day i started applying it i could see changes.
My skin stopped getting dry and soon it stopped flaking too.

Price-Rs 249 for 100 gms

Packaging- tube like with a flip cap which is easy to open an close.

fragrance-

Slight chemical smell but it is not so strong that it can be of issue to someone. The smell vanishes after application.

Texture-

Consistency is nice and thick. It gets absorbed quickly into dry skin. It may leave a greasy feel on oily skin.

It provides great relief to dry skin. Some people do believe that this is not intended to be used on face. However i applied it 2 times a day on my dry face and i was good to go. It did not break me out at all and left my skin super hydrated and nourished.Only a pea sized amount is enough to moisturise the face. So this product lasted me 2 months! Also i didn't hesitate to apply it as a hand or foot cream and it worked very well.

Pros-

  • mutli use product
  • safe for super dry skin
  • does not cause break outs
  • gets absorbed quickly on dry skin
  • reduces flakiness
  • travel friendly
  • goes a long way
  • not very expensive
  • easily available

Cons-

  • not apt for oily skinned beauties
  • smell may trouble some

Last Words-

This moisturizer has really helped me out of a severe skin problem so i really love it. I think it was perfect for winters. Lets see how it works during summers...

The Face Shop Lovely ME:EX Lip Tint Stick Review #02

Hello lovelies,

Today i am going to share with you a product that my darling sister gifted me.

The details behind the product are written in Korean language. However i tried my best to get the details-

color- #02 sweet cherry
main ingredients- vitamin e revellent, mango butter, rosehip oil, grape seed oil
product description- 3 in 1 lip balm that functions tint, lip balm and sunblock at the same time
moist-smooth veil system
price-8.98$

So 'lip tint stick' was never heard by me before. On using this product i got to know that, if a lipstick and lip  balm got married then this would be their baby!
The applicator of the stick is just like a lipstick. the packaging is both user and travel friendly.
The texture of the lip tint stick is very soft and creamy. It leaves a glossy effect with a slight tint of pink in my lips. It is super moiturising and stays put for one hour approximately.

This little product is perfect for college going girls or for those lazy days when we dont want to do makeup but still look chic.

pros-

  • leaves lips hydrated
  • tinted
  • no overpowering fragrance detected
  • contains spf and other beneficial ingredients
cons-

  • a bit pricey
  • availability
Last Words-

I think this lip tint stick is really moisturizing and will prove to be very useful for those with pigmented lips, especially. Good news? I have spotted some Face Shop lip balms and tints in Sephora India. So those of you who can get your hands on it soon!

Parachute Advansed Ayurvedic Hair Oil~good things take time?

When someone says 'Hair oil' the most common picture that pops up in my head is that of a parachute coconut hair oil. It is the most easily available brand in India.
I came across this parachute ayurvedic hair oil some days back. At first i went past by it, thinking how different can it be from it's other variants? However i gave into the little devil called 'temptation' and picked up the product. As i started reading the ingredients and the expected results, i got super excited to try it.

Product claims

Parachute Advansed Ayurvedic Hair Oil nourishes the hair roots and scalp and controls hair fall effectively. It gives us long, thick and beautiful hair.  It also promotes hair growth,  reduces dandruff and prevents premature greying. Parachute Advansed Ayurvedic Hair Oil makes us hair to stay truly healthy.

ingredients-

Amla, Ghritakumari, Methi, Mehendi,  Nagarmotha, Coconut oil/Excipients , Sugandhit Dravya.

price-

Rs 43 approx for 95ml

Personal Experience-

(my hair type- long with oily scalp and dry ends which get entangled & hence break alot).

The fragrance of the hair oil is not very pleasing. It can be a problem to some but for me if a hair product works well, i can bear with it.
It looks like a golden/ brownish thick oil with some fine particles here and there.

Although it looks thick it is not like those heavy hair oils, which are difficult to wash off. I usually dilute my shampoo while washing my hair and it takes me 2 washes to get the entire product washed away.
It has been asked to leave the oil overnight however i used to apply the oil early in the morning and wash off in the afternoon as i usually tend to catch a cold if i leave any oil overnight. After using this oil for a month ( that is, once or twice a week) i can say that effects tend to improve with time. After the first wash i did not notice any miraculous reduction in hair fall. However i did notice that my hair was getting less entangled. It was much easier to comb through and felt much more silky than before. & hence i experienced less breakage.
I especially love the way my hair looks on the second day after washing my hair with this oil. It looks neat and gives me a little bit of bounce and shine. Talking of dandruff, it did reduce the appearnce of it with time. As far as greying of hair is concerned i cant comment on it as i am not facing that problem. But since it contains amla it might be beneficial for those with grey hair as well.

pros-

1. nourishes hair well
2. makes hair easy to comb through & hence less breakage
3. contains all effective ayurvedic ingredients
4. very reasonable
5. makes hair look beautiful on the second day, especially

cons-

1. does not reduce hairfall miraculously
2. fragrance may trouble some

Last Words-

I understand that what might suite my hair might not suit everyone else. However, The brand Parachute is a reputable one in India and the price of this product is also not very high. Considering these two facts this product can be given a chance atleast once. What i have realised is that this product tends to perform better if you give it some time and be patient. Also apply it regularly and leave it on for as long as possible.

Sunsilk Lusciously Thick And Long Shampoo & memories!

Hello Beauties!

Today i am going to to talk about a brand with which i am sure many of us have 'memories'.  Back when i was small my mom would follow a simple but regular haircare routine for my sister and me. She used to oil our hair weekly with her amazing homemade hair oil ( i hope to share the diy of that soon) and follow up with sunsilk shampoo ( i guess India was not introduced to conditioners till that time ). However we never felt the need for a conditioner as our hair naturally was left feeling smooth and silky owing to mom's hair oil.
Ok so tragedy begins in 2007 when i move out for college. I was moving from a small city like Jamshedpur to Pune. I was introduced to so many new hair care brands and so many new kinds of appliances to tame my hair. There was no end to this world of endless serums,mousses..hairsprays!

As in most cases i tried almost all brands of shampoos available in the market, till one fine day when i realised that no matter what, i always tend to go back to "Sunsilk".

Coming to Sunsilk Lusciously Thick And Long, i went for this pink bottle after many years. I have been using this for over a month now and i find it to be doing a great job in cleansing my hair well, and making it more manageable.

price- Rs 299 for 650 ml (i got Rs 100 off, is'nt that cool?)

The consistency of the shampoo is neither runny nor very thick. I find that it does not give me a hard time to clean my hair even when it is heavily oiled. Talking of Fragrance i think it is quite pleasant ( like other sunsilk shampoos).

Now coming to the most important part, the name of this shampoo is "lusciously thick and long" which seemed quite misleading to me. This was infact the main reason behind me staying away from it since so many years.

Making your hair thick and long seems like sunsilk was making tall claims. ok so answering the question, does it make hair really thick and long...this in a way can be put like- does it help in hair growth? I would have to say not really! I dont think any shampoo can make our hair long!!
But, this shampoo did make my hair (that is already long) quite smooth and frizz free. Yes, it did stand by in maintaining my long hair quite well.

pros-

1. cleanses hair well and makes long hair look manageable
2. nice consistency
3. pleasant fragrance
4. budget friendly
5.easily available

cons-

1. contains chemicals
2. might not suit those with extremely dry hair
3. the name might be misleading, making people expect thicker and longer hair by it's usage. ( however it does a good job in hair maintainence)

Last Words

Overall personally i really like this brand, i can for sure that say that no matter what i use in future, i know i will go back to it every now and then. This really suits my hair type- which is oily near the scalp and dry at the ends. Have you tried this shampoo? and does it suite you?

Shower Sponge+Cake Love!

So who loves taking long showers? ME! ME! ME!

I not only love trying out new shower gels and creams but also loofahs. I try almost all loofahs i come across (yes, even the ones that come free with shower gels).

Today i am going to introduce you to the the best shower sponge that i have ever come across. Before this i never knew that a small thing like a shower sponge could make such a difference in a girl's life.

It is the Bath and Body Works Shower Sponge.

PRICE- 3.5$

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION- "A must-have for all bathing beauties! Our gentle sponge has a convenient, subtly-striped strap and is the perfect puffy accessory for a luxurious cleansing experience. The super soft texture creates a more luxurious lather using less shower gel," as explained in the website.

This sponge is much bigger than the other sponges we see in the market. It is firm and tightly wrapped. The stripes in the strap of the product set it apart and make it look classy. The sponge feels really soft on the skin and cleanses very well.
Talking of durability this sponge is excellent. It has lasted me for over a year now. I do maintain it by washing it regularly but it never seemed like it would fall apart.

pros-
  • feels very soft
  • durability
  • available in variety of colors
  • striped strap is strong and convenient to use
  • lathers very well

cons-
  • pricier than other shower sponges (but it lasts very long)
  • availability

Last Words- The product is the best i have tried so far. It is a must have. Unfortunately it is not available easily in India. However i did spot it on amazon.com. If not there then you can definitely ask someone to get it for you from States..after all what are good friends for?

Now, its time to share my latest crush with you, presenting The Red Velvet Cake at Starbucks!

Have you visited Starbucks yet? Share your favorites and i would love to try it in my next visit.

Bath & Body Works Country Chic Supercharged Body Scrub

Hello everyone!

After Victoria Secrets it is bath and body works today! This Scrub was bought by me from an Indian shopping website after a friend from USA totally talked me into it. Personally i find homemade scrubs the most effective, but i get too lazy some times. So for those days i bought this scrub.

price- Rs 1100 for 269g
packaging- tube like user friendly packaging

To begin with i would describe the fragrance as floral with a slight lemon hint to it. Neither of the 2 scents are over powering. On the whole i would describe the scent to be definitely refreshing.

I can see beautiful blue scrubby granules when i squeeze out the product.

As you can see the texture is neither creamy nor oily. However the product is not drying on my skin. Coming to the best part, you can see the granules dissolve and foam up as you perform the scrubbing action.
The scrub is very easy to rinse off and leaves my skin squeaky clean and smooth.
My skin feels wonderful and polished after using this scrub. I absolutely love it!

pros-
  • refreshing fragrance
  • scrubs well
  • good packaging
  • moisturises
  • foaming action
  • leaves no residue
  • smoothens the skin

cons-
  • pricey
  • availability

Last Words- Bbw makes awesome scrubs. They are definately worth trying considering they can be easily spotted on various Indian shopping websites today.
