Avocado Hair Mask DIY

Hey lovelies,

Winters bring cozyness, love, christmas and lots of hair problems for me! My hair fall tends to increase alot during this season. A big reason for the hairfall is drynesss and dandruff. Thats why I mostly opt for anti dandruff hair products.Avocado has been used since ages for hair strengthening and growth. I like to mix it with the nourishing coconut oil and create a hair mask for deep conditioning. The mask instantly reduces dryness, and adds shine to the hair.

Nihar Naturals Shanti Sarson Kesh Tel Review & Photos

Hey Everyone!

I love using my regular Patanjali Coconut Oil on regular days. However during winter months I tend to catch cold easily and therefore I shift to mustard oil. Because of its heating properties, Mustard Oil is widely used during winters for head and body massage. It is amazing for stimulating hair growth and thickening hair. I have also noticed that people who massage their hair regularly with mustard oil have silky shiny hair. Let us see how Nihar Shanti Sarson Kesh Tel worked for me.

Price- Rs 45 for 175 ml

Current Haircare Routine & Tips For Long Hair- February 2015

Hello beauties!

It has been almost a year since I posted my last haircare routine so I thought of posting an updated version. I have always had thick long hair with oily scalp and dry ends. Last year my hair stylist chopped off a little more length than I had actually asked for. I was determined to make it grow as fast as possible and by taking extra care my hair did grow back to its regular length in 6 months! This time the growth was faster and healthier..lets see how!

L'Oreal Hair Spa Deep Nourishing Shampoo Review

Hey Everyone,

Today I am going to share with you a product which is not much talked about in the beauty world. It is the L'Oreal Hair Spa Deep Nourishing Shampoo with water lily formulated especially for dry hair. Honestly speaking I had only heard of  L'Oreal Hair Spa Olive Oil, reviewed here . The moment I saw this shampoo for sale in my salon I knew I had to try it. I asked the Salon guys for a quick review on it as I couldnt find much about the product online. They said,  'Mam customers love it so much that they keep coming to buy a new bottle as soon as their old one gets finished'.  Okay so now I really had to buy it, and it is mint colored too! See how I justify my temptations ;)

Rose Water Massage: Pamper Your Hair

'I'd rather have roses on my table than diamonds on my neck,' Emma Goldman
I have thick long hair which demands alot of attention. So, I am always on the lookout of ways by which I can make my hair heathier. Rose Water has a common and rather irreplaceable place in almost every Indian household. Apart from being a fantastic toner for our skin, it also contains properties which are great for our hair. Rose water treats scalp irritations and dandruff. With regular application it also delivers shine and solves the problem of hair loss. Unfortunately, we do not have access to Rose Water Hair Tonic in India, all we have is the regular skin toners. I refrain from using these skin toners on my hair as they contain preservatives. I prefer making my own Rose Water, as it is very easy and fresh. Lets see how I go about it.

Gently wash the roses, and put it in boiling water. For 2 cups of water use around 3-4 big roses.

Loreal Smooth Intense Serum Review: Nice or Not?

Hair serums have been a part of my life since i dont even remember! Today, a hair serum has become more of a necessity to me, I just cant imagine life without it. I have super long hair which gets entangled alot, hence i am always on the lookout for a non-oily hair serum which can be used on dry hair before combing.
In the beginning I used to use Loreal Professional Hair serums as suggested by my hair stylist. But these were so expensive that I could not use it on a day to day basis.

price- Rs 240 for 100ml

The Loreal Paris Smooth Intesnse Serum is thick but gets absorbed quickly. It is non-greasy and has a pleasant smell.

The hair serum can be used on dry as well as wet hair. It detangles the hair quite well, leaving it smooth. The only problem I have with the hair serum is that i dont find the effects to be long lasting, I reach for it every time I have to comb my hair. But I dont mind using it often as the product is decently priced, and seems to do no harm to my hair (it contains argan oil). Also my hair ends are dry, so I dont face the problem of it making my hair oily.

pros-
  • detangles hair
  • makes hair smooth
  • pleasant smell
  • contains argan oil
  • less hair breakage
  • decently priced
  • easily available

cons-
  • effects are not long lasting
Last Words-

Overall, I think The loreal smooth intense serum is a great buy. It is decently priced and at the same time it is effective. This is my 3rd bottle, and I am definitely buying it again!

Have you tried this product before? Do Share!

Protein Pack And Chopsticks For Hair?

Hello everyone!

It so funny that sometimes we spend so much time and money on hair treatments in the beauty parlour when, most of the beneficial products for hair are lying around in our kitchen! I, as a person never enjoyed visiting salons. Instead i like doing things on my own at home, i even lately learnt how to do my own eyebrows in order to avoid regular salon visits.

Also i am not much of a diy person, i prefer readymade things which are effective. Just the other day, i came across a hair protein pack and the name itself excited me! I love pampering my hair with oils, and  various kinds of masks to give it nourishment.

When people ask me what i do for my hair, i always say that i refrain from using unnecassary chemicals and heat. Infact I am in my mid twenties and till date i have not considered coloring it.
The ingredients mentioned in this protein pack is quite appealing.

All ingredients mentioned in the product are known to me, excepting, kausini-bindi. Do any of you know what it means? Do share in the comments below if you are familiar with it.

Okay so green gram (sprouts), fenugreek (methi), badam (almonds) and curry leaves (kadi patta) are known for fostering hair growth and reducing hairfall.Curry leaves are further known even to prevent premature hair greying. All these ingredients are excellent for our hair.

Coming to my personal experience with the protein pack, I will have to say that it was a good one. The product comes in a yellow powdery form which has to be diluted and soaked in water for 10 minutes before application. The packaging and fragrance of the pack is nothing fancy. It smells like regular herbs and has a cooling effect on the scalp after application. The smell of the product stays on even after hair wash.

I left the product for 20 minutes on my hair and then cleansed it twice with my regular shampoo. I also followed up with a regular hair mask from a drugstore brand. The result of this treatment was lovely. My hair was looking smooth and had a healthy shine to it. Yes, i was getting compliments on air dryed hair!!

pros-

easy to use
deeply nourishing
gives smooth and shine
no chemicals
very reasonably priced

cons-

simple packaging
fragrance stays after hair wash

last words-

Overall, i really think that this hair pack is deeply nourishing for the hair and i recommend it to everyone for lusciously long locks. It is quite early for me to comment regarding it fostering hair growth or not, but I am sure with the ingredients mentioned in the pack, hair growth will take place.

Also, i recently got a gift from Japan, Chopsticks

Since i cant figure out how to eat with them. I decided to use them for creating a bun. It sounds strange i know, but looks super duper feminine!

Have you ever used chopsticks on your hair? And do share what you think of protein packs.. xoxo!

L'Occitane Volumizing Shampoo Review

Hello everyone,

Few days back, when I posted my Updated Haircare Routine I mentioned I had shifted from my regular and favourite Sunsilk to L'occitane Volumizing Shampoo. There were also few requests for my review on the shampoo.

I have been using this shampoo along with my sister, and we both have quite similar views on it.
To begin with I would like to mention that i have long thick hair with an oily scalp and dry ends.

price- Rs 1390 for 300ml ( i have been using the 75ml for review purpose)

L'occitane volumizing shampoo is free from silicones.  The texture of the shampoo is transparent gel like. It has a nice scent, which i assume is of the 5 essential oils it contains-Artemisia, petit grain, sweet orange, rosemary and palmarosa. The fragrance stays on my hair for quite some time after hair wash.

The shampoo definately does not lather up as easily as other shampoos. If I oil my hair, then i need to apply the shampoo atleast twice to cleanse it thoroughly. After washing, my hair feels light. I have never wanted too much volume in my hair, and this shampoo gives me exactly the amount of volume i need. However i do recommend using a conditioner after using this shampoo as it does not help in taming wavy hair. As far as reduction in hairfall goes, it did not do any miracles for me. I did not notice any marked reduction in my regular amount of hairfall.

My overall experience with the L'Occitane Volumizing Shampoo was fine. I neither love it too much nor do i hate it.

Pros-

silicone free
makes hair feel light
contains the benefits of 5 essential oils
gives me the right amount of volume
does not dry my hair
fragrance is long lasting

cons-

pricey
did not help in reducing hairfall
does not lather up well

last words-

In the world of shampoos, there are only a few that i like. I usually have high expectations from hair products and so I do not get impressed that easily. Also, I believe that everybody's hairtype and hair needs are different, what might work for one, might not work for everyone else! Even so, I think this shampoo is a good one and can be given a shot if one needs volume.
I recommend this to those who need the kind of shampoo which gives them the right amount of volume ( because It does not give any extra 'volume' which makes hair look unmanageable!)

Have you ever tried volumizing shampoos? Which ones do u prefer? Do share in the comments below!

My Current Haircare Routine- March 2014

Hello lovelies!

I am sorry for the late post, but actually I have been travelling alot lately and I dont have access to regular internet connection.

Today, i am going to share with you my latest haircare routine. I have thick long hair and I strongly believe that the lesser one plays with color and heat the better it is. I also dont believe in using tons of products on my hair, all one needs is a ''good product'' that suits your hair type (& btw finding that ''good product'' is the most difficult task!)
I have been continuously using Sunsilk since many months. In fear of product build up i lately shifted from my regular shampoo, conditioner and hair oil.

Here is what I am using currently-

1) L'occitane Volumizing Shampoo
2) L'occitane Volumizing Conditioner
3) L'oreal Hair Spa Olive Oil
4) L'oreal Paris Total Repair 5 Serum

I will be reviewing the products as soon as i get sure of what i think of them.
Till then, let me know what hair products you are currently using!

Parachute Advansed Ayurvedic Hair Oil~good things take time?

When someone says 'Hair oil' the most common picture that pops up in my head is that of a parachute coconut hair oil. It is the most easily available brand in India.
I came across this parachute ayurvedic hair oil some days back. At first i went past by it, thinking how different can it be from it's other variants? However i gave into the little devil called 'temptation' and picked up the product. As i started reading the ingredients and the expected results, i got super excited to try it.

Product claims

Parachute Advansed Ayurvedic Hair Oil nourishes the hair roots and scalp and controls hair fall effectively. It gives us long, thick and beautiful hair.  It also promotes hair growth,  reduces dandruff and prevents premature greying. Parachute Advansed Ayurvedic Hair Oil makes us hair to stay truly healthy.

ingredients-

Amla, Ghritakumari, Methi, Mehendi,  Nagarmotha, Coconut oil/Excipients , Sugandhit Dravya.

price-

Rs 43 approx for 95ml

Personal Experience-

(my hair type- long with oily scalp and dry ends which get entangled & hence break alot).

The fragrance of the hair oil is not very pleasing. It can be a problem to some but for me if a hair product works well, i can bear with it.
It looks like a golden/ brownish thick oil with some fine particles here and there.

Although it looks thick it is not like those heavy hair oils, which are difficult to wash off. I usually dilute my shampoo while washing my hair and it takes me 2 washes to get the entire product washed away.
It has been asked to leave the oil overnight however i used to apply the oil early in the morning and wash off in the afternoon as i usually tend to catch a cold if i leave any oil overnight. After using this oil for a month ( that is, once or twice a week) i can say that effects tend to improve with time. After the first wash i did not notice any miraculous reduction in hair fall. However i did notice that my hair was getting less entangled. It was much easier to comb through and felt much more silky than before. & hence i experienced less breakage.
I especially love the way my hair looks on the second day after washing my hair with this oil. It looks neat and gives me a little bit of bounce and shine. Talking of dandruff, it did reduce the appearnce of it with time. As far as greying of hair is concerned i cant comment on it as i am not facing that problem. But since it contains amla it might be beneficial for those with grey hair as well.

pros-

1. nourishes hair well
2. makes hair easy to comb through & hence less breakage
3. contains all effective ayurvedic ingredients
4. very reasonable
5. makes hair look beautiful on the second day, especially

cons-

1. does not reduce hairfall miraculously
2. fragrance may trouble some

Last Words-

I understand that what might suite my hair might not suit everyone else. However, The brand Parachute is a reputable one in India and the price of this product is also not very high. Considering these two facts this product can be given a chance atleast once. What i have realised is that this product tends to perform better if you give it some time and be patient. Also apply it regularly and leave it on for as long as possible.

Sunsilk Lusciously Thick And Long Shampoo & memories!

Hello Beauties!

Today i am going to to talk about a brand with which i am sure many of us have 'memories'.  Back when i was small my mom would follow a simple but regular haircare routine for my sister and me. She used to oil our hair weekly with her amazing homemade hair oil ( i hope to share the diy of that soon) and follow up with sunsilk shampoo ( i guess India was not introduced to conditioners till that time ). However we never felt the need for a conditioner as our hair naturally was left feeling smooth and silky owing to mom's hair oil.
Ok so tragedy begins in 2007 when i move out for college. I was moving from a small city like Jamshedpur to Pune. I was introduced to so many new hair care brands and so many new kinds of appliances to tame my hair. There was no end to this world of endless serums,mousses..hairsprays!

As in most cases i tried almost all brands of shampoos available in the market, till one fine day when i realised that no matter what, i always tend to go back to "Sunsilk".

Coming to Sunsilk Lusciously Thick And Long, i went for this pink bottle after many years. I have been using this for over a month now and i find it to be doing a great job in cleansing my hair well, and making it more manageable.

price- Rs 299 for 650 ml (i got Rs 100 off, is'nt that cool?)

The consistency of the shampoo is neither runny nor very thick. I find that it does not give me a hard time to clean my hair even when it is heavily oiled. Talking of Fragrance i think it is quite pleasant ( like other sunsilk shampoos).

Now coming to the most important part, the name of this shampoo is "lusciously thick and long" which seemed quite misleading to me. This was infact the main reason behind me staying away from it since so many years.

Making your hair thick and long seems like sunsilk was making tall claims. ok so answering the question, does it make hair really thick and long...this in a way can be put like- does it help in hair growth? I would have to say not really! I dont think any shampoo can make our hair long!!
But, this shampoo did make my hair (that is already long) quite smooth and frizz free. Yes, it did stand by in maintaining my long hair quite well.

pros-

1. cleanses hair well and makes long hair look manageable
2. nice consistency
3. pleasant fragrance
4. budget friendly
5.easily available

cons-

1. contains chemicals
2. might not suit those with extremely dry hair
3. the name might be misleading, making people expect thicker and longer hair by it's usage. ( however it does a good job in hair maintainence)

Last Words

Overall personally i really like this brand, i can for sure that say that no matter what i use in future, i know i will go back to it every now and then. This really suits my hair type- which is oily near the scalp and dry at the ends. Have you tried this shampoo? and does it suite you?

Little Things!

So, i thought of sharing some cute little things in my stash with you. I am a sucker for cute stuff..i buy things knowing that i may never get a chance to use them.  However the things that i am going to share with you today are surprisingly coming to great use for me. While buying these things i was quite sure that these things would just end up looking cute in my stash until one fine day, when i would get bored and give it all away!

Okay so the first thing i am going to share is a beautiful pair of feather earrings that i got from FC Road few days back. It looks so delicate and seems perfect for welcoming summers! Some day i hope to post a picture of me wearing it.

price- Rs 100/-

Time to share my 3 little dahlings which do an amazing job keeping my hair in place. I have long hair which is quite difficult to tie and keep in place. No matter how much i try, my hair would always open and get messy in a couple of hours.

The left most blue accessory is a rubber band which reminds me of a telephone wire...isnt that cool?
The band is of great quality and does not get entangled with my hair.
The accessory in the middle of the picture is that of a pair of neon pink snap clip. Yeah, i too gave in to the 'neon craving'!
Lastly the neon pink hair stick travelled all the way from Korea to reach me. They are dirt cheap and i believe you can easily get it in India too. It is so easy to make a bun with this stick. It looks super feminine and gives you a neat look.
price of all these accessories was under Rs 100.
I can undoubtedly conclude that these cute little things are very important in a girl's world.
Go ahead and share the most cute and useful things in your stash..xoxo!
